TEHRAN (IQNA) – The forces of Yemen’s army and Popular Committees repelled two attacks repelled two attacks launched by militants affiliated to the Saudi–led coalition, an army spokesman said.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the attacks were launched in the provinces of al-Jawf and Ma’rib on Saturday.

He added that the forces of the army and Popular Committees repulsed the attacks and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, al-Masirah TV reported.

Tens of the militants were killed and injured in the counterattacks, he added.

Saree noted that the coalition warplanes were conducting air raids against Yemeni forces’ positions in the areas as the militant attacks were being carried out.

The coalition launched a devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing back to power the government of former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and crushing the Ansarullah movement.

The military aggression, coupled with a Saudi naval blockade, has killed hundreds of thousands of people and plunged Yemen into the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
